Oily & greasy skin
In technical terms, this skin type is referred to as seborrhoea oleosa.
What is the cause of oily skin?
The reason why oily skin develops is the overproduction of sebum. In general, this consists of various fatty substances, but the composition varies from person to person. This is another reason why some have dry skin and others have oily skin.
A common reason for oily and impure skin is the increased production of male sex hormones (eg testosterone), which are also produced by the female body. This is especially the case during puberty. Male hormones cause excess production of sebum and clogging of the sebum glands, causing pimples and blackheads. Other hormonal changes can also cause oily skin. These include, for example, pregnancy, stopping the contraceptive pill or just before the monthly menstruation.
Men generally have oilier skin than women due to higher testosterone production.
Diseases and medications can also have oily skin as a symptom. For example, oily, shiny skin is a typical side effect of Parkinsons disease. Disorders of the adrenal cortex or the ovaries can also trigger oily skin. Certain sedatives or hormonal drugs can also promote oily skin.
Last but not least, lifestyle and diet can also disrupt fat production. For example, excessive alcohol consumption, malnutrition and / or malnutrition and too much stress have a negative effect on the complexion.
What helps with oily skin?
Our tips for this skin type
Thorough make-up removal
Thorough makeup removal is a must, especially if you had makeup and/or sunscreen on your face all day. If you dont remove your make-up thoroughly, it clogs your pores more easily, which in turn can lead to breakouts.
With oily skin, it is very important that the skin is thoroughly cleaned.
Our Micellar Water helps to leave skin clean, soft, hydrated and with a pleasant feeling of freshness, while maintaining the skins natural balance.
The 3in1 formula removes make-up, dirt and excess sebum (sebum). It also cleanses the skin thoroughly, has an anti-inflammatory, disinfecting and antibacterial effect.
The right face cream for oily skin
A cream that helps against oily skin and does not cause it is crucial for this skin type.
Oily skin needs care in the form of a moisturizing serum or a cream with a particularly light texture. A face cream for oily skin can also contain active ingredients such as vitamins C and E, such as our MultiLIFT Youth Cream.
Our MultiCARE Hydro+ Serum moisturizes, regenerates the skin and eliminates impurities. It also has antioxidant, tonic and protective properties.
It has a calming, anti-inflammatory effect and protects the skin from irritation over the long term.
Microneedling against excessive sebum production
Oily skin can be treated using Microneedling be counteracted, because this can regulate the sebum production with regular use. For the face, the correct needle length is 0.5mm.
The !LoveElla dermaroller can be used once a week without hesitation.
How to recognize oily skin:
-
Large-pored skin
-
Shine in the so-called T-zone (forehead, nose, chin)
-
Often pimples and blackheads on the nose
-
Skin prone to blemishes
-
Uneven complexion and thicker than normal skin
-
The face, shoulders and upper back are often particularly affected
Avoid washing your skin too often!
Excessive hygiene can damage the skin and promote dehydration. The skins natural protective film becomes less with each wash, which encourages the skin to reproduce the lack of oil. This leads to an overproduction of fat, which creates the shine.
It is enough if the face is thoroughly cleaned 1-2 times a day. Thorough cleaning in the evening is very important here.
Cosmetic products with soothing and mattifying ingredients:
When it comes to your products, look for light formulations with polypeptides, hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, vitamin E...etc
Our MultiLIFT Youth Cream is rich in antioxidants, toning and protective properties. The light cream improves the complexion and has a matting effect against the shine of oily skin.
Everything under control with the right skincare:
People with oily skin are often annoyed about their skin type, because it is not uncommon for the T-zone to shine or you have to contend with impure skin. But actually, this skin type is the jackpot when it comes to skin aging! Why? Because oily skin is very well supplied with fats and is therefore much less prone to wrinkles and fine lines than other skin. Oily skin does not have to deal with so-called dryness lines either. We hope that this will reconcile you a bit more with your skin type and that you can get your oily skin under control with the right cleaning and care as well as our tips.
